What is the benefit to this cover? Skinz: "This cover is a stretch to fit waterproof cover. It is unlike any in the industry. It will stretch to fit a snowmobile no matter what is added to or taken off from your sled so you don't have to purchase a new cover every year."
You say it is waterproof...is it entirely waterproof? Skinz:"It is entirely waterproof except for a panel just behind the windshield and over the seat. This allows for air to flow through the cover when trailering."
Will it really keep my sled dry and clean? Skinz:"It is amazing to see the difference. Anyone who has taken their sleds on a trailer through slush and salt knows what a mess it can be. It gets in every crack and crevice there is. With the cover....you see that they are clean and dry and you are entirely convinced that this cover is worth it."
But what about the slush and dirt on your cover? Skinz:"Easy. Throw it in the wash on gentle cycle and air dry (or low heat/gentle cycle) and your cover will be good to go for the next trip." This cover is not intended for storage use. The sun and salt will eat away at it if left in the sun and/or left without cleaning after each use.
Is the cover easy to install? Skinz:"If you haven't ever used the cover before it is a little different the first time you put it on. For one...since it is a stretch cover...you need to stretch it to fit your sled. Sometimes it takes a little working it over the bars and bumper to get it on. Once it is stretched it will settle in to fit. The important thing is getting the cover to stretch down, back and around your sled to a very tight fit. This is some very tough and very durable material. However....sharp objects or flapping while trailering will penetrate it and that is why it is important to get a tight fit." Holes can be repaired (patch kit included) but they are not covered under warranty. Please see our workmanship warranty policy in our warranty section of our website.
How tight is tight? Skinz:"Tight. Tighter than you think. There are instructions included with the cover and it's not hard...it's just a different concept that people have to get used to. We hear all of the time people say that it is the best cover they have ever used. We also have heard from a few that after the first time they think it is the worst cover. This is because they put it on with the concept in mind of an old fashioned snowmobile cover and consequently.... it isn't tight enough so it flaps in the wind and wears. Think of it as an aero-dynamic wetsuit that goes on your snowmobile. You want it skin tight and you want it to cover almost every part of your snowmobile (without actually lifting it up and getting it underneath)"
What size would I need? Skinz:"Basically it goes by short track and long track. There are only two sizes (remember it is a stretch to fit cover.) There is the Standard and the XL
Where do I get a cover? Skinz:"Check with your local dealer to see if they stock Skinz Products. We sell mainly to distributors so we don't know which individual dealers have or stock our products. If you can't find one at a dealer....we do make our products available for purchase online. Sometimes there is a wait because of the demand during the busy season.....so plan ahead.....don't wait until you need one for a trip.
Please Note:
These covers are for trailering purposes only. They are not intended for storage purposes. If left in the sun or on the sleds for any length of time or over the summer the material can deteriorate. Please wash and store in a cool dry place when not in use trailering.
